SPENNYMOOR TOWN P-P BROMLEY
The Buildbase FA Trophy Quarter-Final Replay
Tuesday 6 March 2018
Stephen McCartney reports from The Brewery Field
Tonight’s FA Trophy Quarter-Final Replay at Spennymoor Town was called off for a second time in seven days due to an unplayable pitch.
The match had passed an eight o’clock pitch inspection this morning and another one at two o’clock this afternoon by a local referee but was deemed correctly unplayable by match referee Karl Evans within 75 minutes of the scheduled kick-off.
Bromley fans made the 564-mile round trip and their manager Neil Smith has called for The Football Association to switch the game back to Hayes Lane, which has an artificial pitch, to get the game played before the scheduled Semi-Finals on Saturday 17 March.
Neil Smith’s reaction to tonight’s farce can be read here:
Referee: Mr Karl Evans (Worsley, Manchester)
Assistants: Mr Stephen Dial (Blaydon-on-Tyne, Tyne and Wear) & Mr Adam Burgess (Killamarsh, Sheffield)
Fourth Official: Mr John Matthews (Norton, Stockton-on-Tees)
