Metrogas, Stansfeld and Red Velvet plan mini-league tournament after Kent County League campaign scrapped
Three amateur football clubs in south-east London are planning an unofficial mini-league tournament after the Kent County League was declared null and void last night.
First Division West side Metrogas said in a statement: “In conjunction with Stansfeld FC and Red Velvet FC we are looking to set up a mini-league with two groups. First team and reserves if possible to compete in a 10 week cup/mini-league at Metrogas.
“Sides will have fixtures every week with either a late morning or early afternoon kick-off with a final to be held once the leagues have been completed.”
The Kent County League has confirmed that it will allow friendly matches to take place by its member clubs between now and the start of the 2021-22 season, which kicks off for all of its divisions on Saturday 14 August 2021.
The planned tournament will be called the Metrogas Mini-League and is expected to take place at the club’s New Eltham base.
The 2019-20 season was also declared null and void due to the coronavirus health pandemic.
