I’m excited to be here. Let’s get it right, it’s a wonderful club and I intend to be here for a long time, says Fisher boss Allan Fenn

FISHER manager Allan Fenn says he intends to be at the club for a long time.

Dean Harrison guided the Rotherhithe based club to a third-placed finish in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division last season but stood down in the summer and the club turned to Essex based Fenn to lead the club this season.

Fenn revealed after Friday night’s 3-0 home defeat to Millwall that the club will be operating without a playing budget this season.

“The people have given me a really warm welcome.  I’m from the other side of the water but I have huge respects for Fisher, with the history of the club, because of the fan base, the new stadium and the new history.

“I want to take it to the next level and that’s promotion and getting the club more advertising, more sponsorship, more investment, which will then go to the staff and the playing staff because we’ve not got a penny between us at the moment, which I knew.

“We’ve got players’ who want to play for the club, who want to play for the fans’ and play for the badge.

“I’m excited to be here. Let’s get it right, it’s a wonderful club and I intend to be here for a long time.

“We’re under no illusions how difficult it’s going to be, especially with a new team, no budget.  It’s going to be really difficult but what we can do is play with our heart on our sleeve and use my experience of getting a squad together to compete where we can be competitive, that’s the idea.

“Let’s be realistic about it all and the fact I have to bring in 20 players, rather than keep 20, I’ve had to find 20.

“There’s some great players coming to us and they’ve turned down money to come here.  They’re all doing it for nothing and that’s the most important thing.  It just shows me how much they want to play for us.”

Fisher continue their pre-season preparations with a home game against Saffron Walden Town on Thursday 18 July (19:45).
