Bromley sign striker Adrian Clifton from Maidenhead United: Neil Smith has shown me around and discussed the club’s ambition and that convinced me to come here

BROMLEY manager Neil Smith has made his first summer signing in the shape of ex-Maidenhead United striker Adrian Clifton.

The 30-year-old started his career in the youth ranks at Arsenal, Norwich City and West Ham United and in 2015 he received his first call up for Montserrat and has made five appearances for his country, scoring once.

Clifton scored 21 goals in 77 appearances during his time at Maidenhead United, whom finished 10 points clear of the relegation zone in the bottom six in the Vanarama National League.

“I’m feeling really good! I’m very happy to sign here and I’m excited for the season ahead,” Clifton told www.bromleyfc.net.

“Neil has shown me around and discussed the club’s ambition and that convinced me to come here.”

Smith has agreed a new contract for attacker George Porter, 26, having scooped the supporters’ player of the year award by just one vote.

Porter added: “I’m delighted to commit to what is a very ambitious club. From the moment I’ve walked in, everyone from the staff, to management, team mates and of course supporters have been fantastic.

“I’ve loved my time here so far and I can’t wait to get going again for next season.”

Former Tranmere Rovers winger, Adam Mekki, 27, is staying at Hayes Lane.

“Adam Mekki’s season was cut short in January, where he sustained a serious double injury, which ruled him out for the remainder of the season,” said a club statement.

“However, the club have committed to supporting Adam through his recovery process, as he continues to return to full fitness.”

Bromley have released goalkeeper David Gregory, right-back Richard Brindley, striker Joe Quigley and midfielders Kyle De Silva and Reece Meekums.

Gregory joined Bromley in the summer of 2017 after leaving Cambridge United, quickly becoming a fans’ favourite. He went on to make over 100 appearances in a Bromley shirt, including the FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium last year and only missed one first team fixture during his time at the club.

Brindley joined the Ravens after a successful trial period earlier this season and went on to make the right-back spot his own. He leaves the club having made 34 appearances in the National League, scoring twice.

Meekums signed following a successful pre-season trial, before spending time on loan at Bognor Regis Town and Worthing.

De Silva joined the Ravens in the summer of 2017 from FC Eindhoven, but was hampered by injuries.

Quigley signed for Bromley back in October and scored on his home debut against Braintree Town, before having spells at Eastbourne Borough and Havant & Waterlooville on loan.

Bromley confirm that Omar Bugiel, Luke Coulson, Jordan Higgs, Jack Holland, Adam Mekki, Mark-Anthony Okoye, George Porter, Frankie Raymond and Sam Wood are under contract for next season.

The Ravens finished in 12th place in the Vanarama National League, having collected 60 points from 46 games.

Smith's men lost 3-2 on penalties in the Kent Senior Cup Final to relegated Maidstone United after a 1-1 draw at Hayes Lane on 16 April.
