Glebe chairman Rocky McMillan appoints Danny Oakins permanently after winning nine of his 21 while in interim charge, while Danny Lye replaces long-serving boss Kris Browning at Larkfield & New Hythe
GLEBE chairman Rocky McMillan has appointed Danny Oakins as permanent manager, with Craig Nelson staying on as his assistant.
The pair took interim charge back in November atter Luke Rooney left the club after suffering a 6-3 home defeat to Sporting Bengal United in The FA Vase Second Round.
Rooney has since departed Stansfeld and has signed for league leaders Erith & Belvedere, as a player, while Rooney's assistant at Glebe, Joe Minter, has joined Matt Longhurst's management team at Park View Road.
The Chislehurst-based club are currently sitting in seventh-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having picked up 49 points (14 wins, seven draws) from their 33 league games.
The pair have been in charge for 21 games in all competitions, winning nine, drawing five and losing seven.
“Since their appointment on an interim basis in November, Danny and Craig have done remarkably well,” said McMillan in a statement.
“We’ve had some excellent results and there is a great feel throughout the club.
“We have been flattered by the calibre and number of manager's who have approached us with interest in the role and feel now is a good time to make a decision on the club’s immediate future.
“Anwar Uddin and myself have monitored the situation closely and feel the time is right to reward our management team with the role so they can finish the season strong and best prepare for what will be an exciting new season.
“Danny has been with Glebe for three years and has shown a real passion for the club, as well as producing winning teams.
“Craig has come in and added tremendous value to the club in a short time.
“I wish them every success and I’m confident of good times ahead.”
Glebe welcome bottom-three side Welling Town to Foxbury Avenue on Saturday (15:00).
Ryan King Elliott has been in charge of The Boots for eight games and have won only two of those games.
Welling Town have collected 30 points (five games remaining) and are eight points clear of the relegation zone, which contains K Sports (22 points) and Canterbury City (21).
Meanwhile, Larkfield & New Hythe have announced the shock departure of long-serving manager Kris Browning.
"Kris Browning has decided to step aside and we would like to put on record our thanks to him for all his efforts getting us into the Southern Counties East Football League First Division," said a club statement.
"Larkfield & New Hythe Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Danny Lye and Michael Phillips as the new first team management.
"They will work alongside the exisiting management team of Shaun Holland, Kevin Brown and Mark Irvine."
The New Hythe Lane club are in second-place in the table with 50 points from 28 games, seven points adrfit of league leaders Snodland Town, with four games left to play.
Lye, who has previously managed Ashford United, takes charge of the side for the first time on Saturday when the Larks host Lydd Town, the side immedaitely beneath them in the table.
Larkfield & New Hythe went down to a 1-0 defeat at Staplehurst Monarchs United last night.
