Wings sign pair in time for Trophy tie
Welling United have today signed two new players and both have been registered in time for tomorrow’s FA Trophy third round tie against Worcester City.
Midfielder Terry Bowes and defender Russell Penn have signed for the Nationwide Conference South leaders.
Bowes, signed from Ryman League Division One South outfit Metropolitan Police, has had spells with Thurrock and Hornchurch in recent seasons, whilst Penn has signed from Ryman League Division One North club Enfield Town.
Wings boss Adrian Pennock has also highlighted that he will add to his squad in the near future.
He told www.wellingunited.com : “I’ve also got players lined up for next week but they were cup-tied so wouldn’t have been able to play against Worcester.”
Meanwhile, Dane Springer has returned to Charlton Athletic after his short spell at Park View Road, which included scoring on his debut against Eastbourne Borough on 20th January.
“I couldn’t guarantee Dane a regular game so it is unfair to keep him on the bench,” said Pennock. “He came in and did well against Eastbourne so we wish him every success.”
The Wings welcome Worcester City to Park View Road tomorrow in a FA Trophy third round tie, kicking off at 2pm.
Pennock added: “It’s going to be a tough game against Worcester, they are a strong side and we need our fans to get right behind the team from the first whistle.”
