Wings make Swift offer to help out Dockers
Kent League side Erith Town have been forced to switch their FA Cup Second Qualifying Round tie with Ryman Premier League side Heybridge Swifts - due to an athletics event at their Erith Sports Stadium home.
With FA rules stating that the match had to be played on the weekend of the 29th September, their Blue Square South neighbours, Welling United have stepped in to host the tie on Sunday 30th September, kicking off at 2pm.
“We are very grateful to Welling as the tie would have been switched to Heybridge had we been unable to find a suitable venue,” said a Dockers' statement on their website.
Should a replay be required, it will be played at Heybridge Swifts’ Scraley Road ground on Tuesday, 2nd October (7:30pm).
As a result of the Sunday FA Cup tie, Erith Town’s Kent League derby against Beckenham Town, scheduled for Monday, 1st October, has now been postponed.
