Wings boss Ford waits patiently for Ademola

WELLING UNITED boss Andy Ford says he is playing a waiting game for striker Moses Ademola, writes Stephen McCartney.

The pacy striker impressed during his loan spell at Park View Road, but was recalled by Coca-Cola League Two highflyers Brentford just after Christmas.

Ford, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk last night, says he is waiting for the Bees to delve into the transfer market, so he can bring Ademola back to the club.

“As soon as they sign another forward they will release him,” explained Ford. “But at the moment they’re down to 18 players. They’ve got to get one in, in the transfer window, before they will let us have him back.

“We’ve played three games (without him) and haven’t played very well, so I don’t think I can wait much longer.

“I’ve got to get someone else (if I can’t bring him back); if there is anyone out there as good as him because he settled in very quickly and that’s why I’m being a bit patient to see if we can get him back.”

The Wings remain in fifth place in the Blue Square South table, but Ford was shocked by his side’s last two home performances.

A 3-1 defeat to Bishop’s Stortford was followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw against Team Bath last night.

“I really can’t put my finger on it,” Ford said last night. “We didn’t put three passes together, it was a hot potato. We never got the ball down and pass, we didn’t compete.

“Overall, a disappointing performance. I’m ashamed by that performance.”

After a week like that, the last thing a side needs is a trip to the league leaders, but Ford demands a positive reaction at Chelmsford City on Saturday.

“We’re going to try and get a performance out of the lads,” said Ford, whose side have 13 less points than the Essex giants. “We got a good performance here against them, although we lost 3-1, I don’t think it was a 3-1 game.”

Six of the Wings next eight games are on the road, and Ford warned the Essex giants, “Sometimes we play better away from home to be honest. I don’t think we’ve got a form here (at Park View Road) that is frightening.

“We’ve been away and put some good performances on this season, Worcester away, Newport away from home.

“I don’t worry about going away from home, sometimes it is a little bit better, teams open up a little bit, maybe.”

Ford admits he needs to shake things up at Park View Road, saying a left-sided midfielder and a striker, hopefully Ademola, is on his shopping list.

“We’ve got Moses coming back; there’s a little bit there in the budget; I’m waiting for him to come back,” he said.

“It does need livening up especially if you want to challenge for a play-off position. I don’t think this squad is strong enough at the moment so we do need to go and tough it up.”
