Margate boss Andy Drury snaps up former Whitstable Town midfielder Montrell Deslandes

MARGATE manager Andy Drury has returned to his former club Whitstable Town to sign young midfielder Montrell Deslandes.

 

Deslandes is a product of the Whitstable Academy and worked his way into their first team last season, where he worked with Drury during his short spell in charge of the then Isthmian League South East Division side.

“Montrell has been brilliant with us this pre-season. He has shown a real maturity when playing in our midfield so far,” Drury told the club website.

“He still has some work to do, but I hope that we can help develop him further and he can become a key player for us this season.”

The Isthmian League Premier Division club have also signed striker Harvey Smith, who played for Isthmian League South East Division sides Corinthian and Ramsgate last season.

Margate continue their pre-season preparations tomorrow at home to National League South side Tonbridge Angels, whom are managed by former Margate boss Jay Saunders.
