Whitstable Town unveil Marcel Nimani as their new manager
WHITSTABLE TOWN chairman Steve Clayton has last night appointed Marcel Nimani as the club’s sixth manager since the start of last season.
The club announced the departure of Richard Styles and his management team of Dan Morrin and Mark Towse on Sunday after only 14 games in charge at Belmont Road.
Nimani was unveiled as the new manager and he will be joined by Craig Coles as head coach.
The pair played key roles in helping Sheppey United manager Ernie Batten claim an unprecedented quadruple in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division last season.
Nimani’s first game in charge will be a trip to Chislehurst to take on third-placed Stansfeld, the side that knocked Whitstable Town out of the Kent Senior Trophy in Styles’ final game in charge of the club last weekend.
“Whitstable Town is a great community club with brilliant facilities, youth structure and ambition – all key attributes that I look for in a football club,” said Nimani.
“We are looking forward to embracing the club and to the challenges ahead.”
The Oystermen are in tenth-place in the table with 15 points from their 11 games, 15 points adrift of leaders Erith & Belvedere, who have a 100% record from their first 10 league outings.
Whitstable Town finished bottom of the Isthmian League South East Division last season with Lloyd Blackman, Ben Harding, Keith McMahon and Andy Drury taking charge in the home dug-out.
Clayton then turned to Styles, who left Tunbridge Wells after three seasons and 99 games but he resigned on Sunday and has handed Nimani his first managerial role, having been assistant manager/coach under Batten at Holm Park before stepping down on the eve of the club’s maiden Isthmian League South East Division campaign.
Sheppey United are currently in the bottom five under Jack Midson’s management with eight points from seven games.
