Whitstable Town bid to raise £5,000 online: We would like to express our gratitude to all of those who have offered help and support to the club at this time

WHITSTABLE TOWN have launched an online fundraising page in a bid to raise £5,000 during the coronavirus crisis lockdown.

A statement from the Isthmian League South East Division club said: “As everyone is already aware, a statement was released by the FA on March 26th informing clubs at our level that the 2019-20 season had been terminated as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the results would be expunged.

“Whitstable Town FC is closed for the time being, with no football, academy classes or other events taking place.

“This obviously brings serious challenges to us, together with all other clubs in a similar position, but we are working hard behind the scenes to keep things going, so that we can all look forward to the resumption of football whenever the time comes.

“We would like to express our gratitude to all of those who have offered help and support to the club at this time, including supporters, the management team and players, club employees and volunteers, each of whom no doubt have their own worries at this difficult time.

“We are, however, continuing to plan for the future and have acquired some new equipment, with the help of a Football Foundation grant, to help us prepare the pitch for when football does restart.

“This needs to be done, following a very wet winter, so that the pitch is in the best condition it can be for all of our players that wish to use the Belmont Ground - the first team, reserves, academy and Kent Youth League teams.

“We welcome any further offers of support or ideas for the club at this time, but most importantly, please continue to follow all public health advice and keep yourselves and your families safe, until we can once again see football at the Belmont Ground.”
