We've got to be at our best to claim back-to-back wins, says Yorath

TERRY YORATH admits his Margate side will have to be at their best if their to claim back-to-back wins at Tonbridge Angels on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Blues have yet claimed back-to-back wins during their sorry Ryman Premier League campaign to date, but two goals from Kenny Pratt sealed a vital 2-0 win over Ashford Town (Middlesex) at Hartsdown Park last weekend.

However, it was Margate’s second win in their last six games and Yorath, who was speaking to BBC Radio Kent afterwards, was pleased that Pratt took his chances well.

“It was a good game,” said the Welshman. “We’ve been missing chances lately and paying for mistakes at the back, but today we took the lead through Kenny Pratt and second half was a bit of a battle.

“They launched the ball into our penalty area, but we defended well and managed to get the second one towards the end.”

When asked whether their seventh league win was a turning point when it comes to Ryman Premier League survival, Yorath was not so sure.

He said: “I thought that a few weeks ago and we lost four games since then. Don’t take anything for granted is the best way.”

But he hopes his players’ confidence has increased, ahead of their trip to third placed Kent rivals, Tonbridge Angels.

“It’s all about the confidence as well,” he said. “Especially this time of the year when players are coming up to suspension.

“We’ve got two (players suspended) and you look at other teams, see what they’ve got. You’ve just got to stay clear of injuries at the moment.”

Looking ahead to the Longmead Stadium clash, against a Tonbridge Angels side that are unbeaten iin their last six league games, Yorath added, “It’s obviously a difficult game away from home, but they’ve had a great result (5-1 win at Heybridge Swifts), scored a few goals. We’ll have to be at our best.”
