We're looking to get back to winning ways, says Herne Bay boss Sam Denly

HERNE BAY manager Sam Denly says he wants his side to enjoy a lengthy run in The FA Cup this season. The Bay travel to their Ryman League Division One South rivals Walton & Hersham in the Preliminary Round tomorrow.
The Swans go into the tie sitting in sixteenth-place in the table with two wins and a draw from their opening six league games.
Walton & Hersham hold the physiological edge after coming away from Winch’s Field with a 2-0 win in the league last Saturday.
Herne Bay are a couple of places below their opponents with the same playing record.
“Looking forward to The FA Cup this weekend when we travel to Walton & Hersham,” said Denly, hoping to scoop the £1,925 in prize money at stake.
“Of course everyone wants a good run in The Cup and we’re no different.
“It’s important to keep winning games and a run in the Cup helps with confidence, bringing supporters through the gate and of course creates well-needed revenue for the football club.”
Herne Bay go into the game on the back of three successive defeats and Denly is keen to turn around his side’s fortunes.
He said: “Recent performances have not been good enough and we need to be better if we are to get a result on Saturday.
“Again the lads have trained well and know what is required from them individually and collectively to turn results around.
“We do have some key injuries but that is no excuse. We have a decent squad and you learn more from your players when results are not going your way.
“I’m looking at them to stand up and show the qualities that they did in the first three games of the season.
“We’re travelling to Walton on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways.”
