We're going to give someone a hiding, warns Binks

STEVE BINKS believes his injury-hit Chatham Town side have enough about them to see off Dorking in tomorrow night’s FA Cup Preliminary Round Replay, writes Stephen McCartney.

Mark Brooks (shoulder), Richard Avery (work), Ashley Probets (ankle ligaments), Brad Potter (fractured rib), Darren Smith (holiday) and Chris Shakalli (back) are all ruled out for the trip to Meadowbank.

Chatham were thankful for defender Avery for scoring a dramatic last-gasp equaliser in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Maidstone Road on Saturday - fully deserved, says Binks, when speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk on the eve of the replay.

“They fielded a very decent side, very lively, strong and athletic in midfield and lively up front,” said Binks.

“Their keeper pulled off save after save. We’re just not sticking the ball into the back of the net but we’re not a million miles away from giving someone a big hiding.”

Despite missing key players, Binks is confident his side can earn a trip to either Kent League side Herne Bay - or Ryman One South outfit Chipstead - in the next round on 13^th September.

“We’ve got a good side, some good experience in the side still and some youngsters that are not just making up the numbers, but don’t extremely well,” he said.

“We’re going down there and giving it our best shot and looking to stamp our authority on the game early doors and take the chances that come our way.

“It’s a big blow losing so many experienced players but the players that have come in have done really well, midfielder’s scoring some goals. Once our strikers find their shooting boots, we should be alright.”

Despite being held to a 2-2 draw by a Dorking side that play two divisions lower than the Medway side, Binks explained why he was happy afterwards.

“Because despite dominating, we were camped in their half second half, they scored against the run of play, twice,” he said.

“We had a good goal disallowed in the first minute because their guy fell over and despite constant pressure it looked like we were out of the competition.

“But all credit to the lads, they kept battling until the final whistle - we’ve got a second chance so we’ve got to take it.”
