We're going to give someone a good going over, warns Rams assistant

RAMSGATE assistant manager Danny Ward warns that his side are going to give one of their Ryman Premier League rivals a “good going over” soon, writes Stephen McCartney.

That warning comes after the holders romped to a comfortable 4-0 win at Ryman One North Thamesmead Town in the third round of the Ryman League Cup last night.

Goals from Jay May, Ben Brown, Tom Tsangarides and skipper Nick Davis, ensured the Rams were the first side to play, and win, a third round tie, as their game at Bayliss Avenue was the only game to beat the current cold snap.

The Ward brothers are looking forward to shaking the hand of Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter at Southwood Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the Rams sitting fifth-from-bottom in the table, level on points with Harrow Borough, who are in the drop zone, Danny Ward says his side are more than capable of climbing the table in their last 17 games and emulate last season’s feat of competing in the play-off’s.

The Rams are only 13 points adrift of Maidstone United, the side that currently occupy the last play-off berth.

“We played Boreham Wood at the start of the season, and it ended in a draw,” Danny recalled, when speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk last night. “We should’ve won, but that’s been the story of the season.”

The Hertfordshire side arrive at Southwood Stadium only four places above the Rams with six more points - and Ward says the two clubs have a good relationship.

“I like the club, Danny Hunter, the chairman is a lovely man, lovely people,” Danny said.

But he added: “It will be a battle and we’ll be up for the battle. It should be a good game.”

The assistant boss said last night that they want to negotiate an extension to Jamie Turner’s loan deal from Blue Square South side Welling United.

The goalkeeper had lost his place at Park View Road to Clark Masters, and has been commanding in goal since joining the Rams on a month’s loan just before Christmas.

Turner’s presence has added quality and with the side in buoyant mood, Danny Ward warned his rivals, “I think one of these weeks we will give someone a good going over.”
