We owe Harrow a favour, says Burman
DARTFORD boss Tony Burman says his side must bounce back from their last two drawn games and send Harrow Borough packing at Princes Park on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Darts slipped one place out of the Ryman Premier League play-off zone, due to their draws at Hastings United (0-0) and Margate (2-2), and Burman, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk, says he wants to return to winning ways when they play yet another struggling side.
Harrow Borough defeated the Darts by two goals to one at Earlsmead in November, and Burman has challenged his side to pick up three home points to keep their promotion hopes alive, against a Borough side that are only two points ahead of the relegation zone.
“We’ve been to Hastings, we’ve come to Margate, who are (both) fighting for their lives if you like, and we’re trying to get into the play-off’s,” explained Burman.
“I am disappointed we’ve only picked up two of the six points but having said that we haven’t lost so we build on that.”
But Burman demands a better return from their last ten league games, although his side play some mouth watering games.
“We’ve never taken anything for granted,” he insisted. “We’ve got difficult games against teams who are fighting to get out of relegation and we’ve got a couple of big games against Tonbridge and Sutton, who are obviously now above us, but we’ll try and get three points from each game.”
Three points against relegation threatened Harrow Borough would be good to start with.
“We’ve done really well recently at home,” said Burman. “Harrow beat us over at their place so we owe them a favour and we need to get three points to get back on track.
With the Darts now on 49 points, Burman joked that his side are just one more win away from escaping relegation.
“At the start of the season, we were saying 51 points will save you from relegation,” he laughed. “Last year 51 points went down, that’s how tight this league is!”
