We must cut out individual mistakes - Daish
EBBSFLEET UNITED boss Liam Daish has told his side to cut out individual mistakes because yesterday’s 2-1 defeat up at Kettering Town has kept them inside the Blue Square Premier drop zone, writes Stephen McCartney.
Ben Wright scored twice for Kettering, after Giuseppe Sole had given the Fleet the lead, after Derek Duncan’s shot came back off the crossbar.
The defeat, their 12th on their travels, leaves them in the bottom four, and Daish, speaking to BBC Radio Kent afterwards, knows his side’s luck must turn, starting with Tuesday’s home game against fifteenth placed Altrincham.
The Fleet have 12 league games left to play between now and Sunday, 26th April, and their form at Stonebridge Road (6 wins, 7 draws and 4 defeats) will be key to whether the club will maintain their Blue Square Premier status for next season.
“I think when you’re lucks down, whether it’s injuries or suspensions, its down,” bemoaned Daish.
“Any little mistake you make can easily get punished for.
“The only thing to irradiate that is to get back to doing the basic things well, all over the pitch, cut out the mistakes and its not a problem.”
Daish, who locked his players in the dressing room following yesterday’s defeat at Rockingham Road, has told his side to bounce back with a home win.
“We’ve had a chat in there with the lads,” he said. “In life, things don’t go the way you planned, but you’ve still have a baring on how things end up.
“I think that’s the case between now and the end of the season.
“We’ve got to pull together, which we will do, I’ve got no worries about that, do the basic things well, and cut out the individual mistakes.”
