We must avoid slipping up against Casuals' - Langton

Wednesday 08th April 2009

ASHFORD TOWN assistant manager Hugo Langton has told his side not to slip up against Corinthian-Casuals on Easter Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

Casuals’ five match-unbeaten run, which yielded 13 points in the process, was ended by Cray Wanderers last weekend, as Lewis Wood’s hat-trick and a Leigh Bremner overhead kick, sealed an emphatic 4-1 win for Ian Jenkins’ men at Hayes Lane.

But despite that run, the Tolworth based outfit are only five points clear of the Ryman League Division One South drop zone, and Langton, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk, expects a tough game.

“Corinthian-Casuals have picked up a few results lately, notably against the Met Police,” he warned.

“I know they got a bad result at Cray on Saturday, but they will be keen to put a bit of extra daylight between themselves and the trapdoor out of the division.

“We expect a hard game, we obviously won’t take them for granted and we will need to ensure we start brightly on Saturday.”

Then, it’s the mouth-watering local derby at Folkestone Invicta on Easter Monday, a game that Langton wants to win to complete the double over Neil Cugley’s side.

“Folkestone want revenge for our 1-0 win at Christmas,” he said. “Neil Cugley has done an amazing job down there again, as he has had a lot to deal with this season.

“But we want to win this one for our supporters as they have stuck with us this season when things haven’t always gone our way.

“We know on our day that when we click, that no one can deal with us. It’s just finding that consistency, especially away from home.”
