For us to come away from Hungerford with anything tomorrow we will need to put in another disciplined performance and stick to the plan, says Welling United coach Hugo Langton
WELLING UNITED coach Hugo Langton says his side are in for a tough afternoon at struggling Hungerford Town tomorrow.
The Wings will host Tavistock in The FA Cup Third Qualifying Round next weekend after thrashing Isthmian South Central Division side Chipstead 7-0 at Park View Road last weekend.
“Our team performance in The FA Cup against Chipstead is best described as professional. We are just happy to have got through regardless of the scoreline. We’d have just been as happy winning 1-0. Just winning was all that mattered," said Langton, whose club will have home advantage over Tavistock in the next round on Saturday 5 October.
Mark Goldberg and Langton take their side to Berkshire sitting in fifteenth-place in the Vanarama National League South table, having collected 12 points from 11 games.
Their hosts are second-from-bottom in the table, having won two and drawn two of their 11 games.
“We know we are in for a tough afternoon at Hungerford tomorrow. Any one can beat anyone in this division on any day,” warned Langton.
“It’s an interesting division so far. No one gave Hungerford a chance at Dulwich two weeks ago and they controlled the game there for the most part and deserved to win 3-2 at Champion Hill.
“Hungerford have some very dangerous players that we need to look after. We know we need to defend well and then hopefully our dangerous players can show their attacking qualities.
“For us to come away with anything tomorrow we will need to put in another disciplined performance and stick to the plan.
“There’s one or two players we will need to asses before the game but overall we’ve got a good bill of health.”
