If we can cause a FA Cup upset by beating Eastleigh tomorrow then it will be a career highlight for us all, says Welling United coach Hugo Langton
WELLING UNITED coach Hugo Langton says he wants his side to cause a FA Cup upset against Eastleigh tomorrow.
The Wings have been given home ties in three rounds of The FA Cup and have beaten lower league sides Chipstead (7-0) and Tavistock (4-1) but face their biggest test so far against Ben Strevens’ side.
The Spitfires from Hampshire are in thirteenth-place in the Vanarama National League table with 24 points from their 17 league games and arrive at Park View Road on a five-match unbeaten run.
Mark Goldberg’s side, meanwhile, are fifteenth in the Vanarama National League South table, having banked 15 points form their 13 games.
“It’s a tough draw, especially with us being a part-time team and them being the full-time established National League team but we are pleased that we are at home,” said Langton.
“It’s a one-off Cup game and we will do our best to win it and believe we can win it.
“Getting to the First Round is everybody’s dream in non-league football as we all dream about getting that plum tie to experience something different.
“It provides drama, excitement and gives teams the chance to create upsets.
“If we can cause an upset tomorrow then it will be a career highlight for us all.”
