Welling Town part company with Danny Wakeling and his management team
WELLING TOWN begin the search for a new management team following the news that manager Danny Wakeling has left the club by mutual agreement.
The Bayliss Avenue based club were in ninth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 34 points from 27 league games at the time of the coronavirus crisis, which brought a halt to the season and all results were expunged by The Football Association.
“We can confirm that first-team manager Danny Wakeling has left the club today by mutual agreement, along with his management team of Metin Gozde, Steve Devereux and Darren Hadlam,” said a club statement.
“Whilst officially the season will be classed as void by the FA, we could never do that ourselves and forget some of the great results and performances – particular highlights including a win away at Corinthian back in September, a hard-fought point at Chatham in the league, and our debuts in both FA Cup and FA Vase, including a 7-1 win in the Vase away to Arundel.
“We thank all of them for their efforts during the course of the 2019/20 season helping further establish our club at this level and wish them well for the future.”
