Wednesday 18th January 2006
Welling United have signed Keith Rowland from Ryman Premier League basement boys Redbridge, reports www.wellingunited.comRowland is a left-sided midfielder and will be available for selection at Newport County tonight.
However, he will not be able to play in the FA Trophy after appearing for Redbridge in the competition.
Rowland has played for many clubs including QPR, West Ham as well as playing for Northern Ireland.
Rowland was signed by Chesterfield just in time for the 2001/02 season, and is a player with plenty of experience and is rated very highly by his former employers.
The left-sided player is able to play in either defence or midfield, but prefers a more attacking role on the left wing.
However, after falling out of favour at QPR he was loaned out to Luton Town, and after a spell there he was eventually released by QPR and a successful trial at Chesterfield led to a two-year contract.
A former Northern Ireland international, an injury set back at the start of the 2001/02 season put Rowlands out for a season, and he eventually joined Barnet in March 2003 before switching to Hornchurch in July '03.
In the summer of 2004 he left to play for Dublin City in the Eircom League before returning to England and joining Redbridge in January 2005.
