I still believe we can stay up but we must pick three points up tomorrow, which isn’t going to be easy as Kidderminster are fighting for their lives too, says Welling United boss Dean Frost

WELLING UNITED manager Dean Frost knows the importance of tomorrow’s must-win relegation dog-fight against Kidderminster Harriers.

The Wings pulled off a shock 2-1 win at fifth-placed Tranmere Rovers last weekend and welcome bottom-of-the-table side Kidderminster Harriers to Park View Road tomorrow knowing they must win to maintain their survival bid to retain their Vanarama National League status.

“Tomorrow’s game against Kidderminster is a must win for the club. It would keep our chances of staying up alive,” said Welling resident Frost.

“I’ve told the players that we cannot control what happens at other clubs.  We can only control what happens at ours.

“I still believe we can stay up but we must pick three points up tomorrow, which isn’t going to be easy as Kidderminster are fighting for their lives too.

“But if we show the same heart and desire as we did at Tranmere we will give ourselves a very good chance of winning tomorrow.

“What’s important too is that we keep our little run of form going, two wins and a draw, as winning games help to build confidence and that in turn gives players and the team belief that they are capable of winning going into games.

“It clearly demonstrates that this club has a good core of young players moving forward for next season. Our oldest player on the pitch last Saturday was 24, with the average age being 21.  It shows that on the pitch the future is bright.”

Welling United remain second-from-bottom in the table on 35 points, eight points adrift of safety with only four league games remaining so cannot afford to slip up against a team on 29 points.
