We'll go to awkward Tooting trying to win the game, says Faversham Town boss Ray Turner

Friday 19th December 2014
FAVERSHAM TOWN manager Ray Turner says he’s expecting to face an awkward trip to Tooting & Mitcham United tomorrow.

The Lilywhites are sitting in third-place in the Ryman League Division One South table, having won 15 games, drawn five and lost four of their league games this season.

Turner’s side are one point behind leaders Merstham after holding Hayden Bird’s side to an entertaining 1-1 draw at Salters Lane last weekend.

Unbeaten Burgess Hill Town, meanwhile, lie in second place with 50 points but they have six games in hand on Merstham and four in hand on Faversham.

Turner takes his side to Tooting & Mitcham United – a side that lie in eighth-place in the table with 36 points from 24 games – five points adrift of fifth-placed Whyteleafe, the Southern Counties East Football League title winners last season.

The Morden based outfit haven’t really challenged to get out of the league for many years but Turner is expecting a tough game at Imperial Fields.

“They’re awkward trips those ones, Tooting are an awkward side,” warned Turner.

“I always find they can be very good individually on their day.

“Our team spine is very good at the moment. I think if we stick to that and stick to our plans then it’s important that we pick something up there.

“Away games are never easy but our away form has been decent recently so we go there trying to win the game.”
