We just need to be a little more consistent, admits Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis

SITTINGBOURNE joint-manager Nick Davis says he is searching for consistency from his side going into the crucial festive programme.

The Brickies find themselves sitting in the bottom five in the Ryman League Division One South table with 23 points from 20 games.

Sittingbourne travel to fellow strugglers Three Bridges on Saturday, before welcoming Kent rivals Faversham Town to Broadoak Road on Boxing Day, Thursday 26 December (3pm).

They then travel to Walton & Hersham on 28 December, followed by a trip to Whitstable Town on New Years Day.

“Yes, we’ve got a tough game away to Three Bridges on Saturday,” said central defender Davis.

“Only four points separate the two teams, with us having a game in hand.

“If the right Sittingbourne turn up, we win the game comfortably. We just need to be a little more consistent because on our day we are a fantastic side.”

Davis is relishing the chance to don the number four shirt in two mouth-watering Kent derbies over the festive period.

He said: “Over Christmas we have a couple of Kent derbies, which are always tough.

“With so many points to play for come the middle of January we have an idea where we might end up.”

Davis and Matt Wyatt wants Sittingbourne to climb away from the relegation zone in what is the club’s first season playing at Woodstock.

Davis said: “We find ourselves nearer the foot of the table than we would have liked and after our impressive run to climb away you have a couple of defeats and you find yourself dragged into it again.

“The slow start to the season always meant we were playing catch up and to win five from six pushed us away.

“Both Matt and myself are fully behind our team and we will do everything in our power to climb the table.

“If you string two or three results together we find ourselves tenth.

“Consolidation and consistency is what we are looking for during the rest of the season.”
