We just have to make sure we deliver on the day, says Chatham Town striker Andy Constable

CHATHAM TOWN striker Andy Constable says he is looking forward to tomorrow’s FA Cup tie at Whyteleafe.

The Leafe are the last remaining Southern Counties East Football League side left in the competition and welcome Ryman League Division One North side Chatham Town to Church Road for a Second Qualifying Round tie.

Chatham Town are in the bottom four, with three wins and a draw from their opening ten league games, whilst Whyteleafe are one of the favourites to go on and win the Southern Counties East Football League title at the end of the season.

The Surrey side are in third-place, two points behind leaders Phoenix Sports but with two games in hand.

Chatham Town last reached this stage of The FA Cup in 1995 when they went down to a 2-1 defeat at Dulwich Hamlet.

The last time the Medway based club reached the penultimate qualifying round was in 1993 when they went down to a 3-1 home defeat to Kingstonian.

Whyteleafe, meanwhile, last made it through to the Third Qualifying Round when as a Ryman League Division One club they went down to a 2-0 defeat away to Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Constable, who failed to score on his last visit to Church Road and was substituted after 64 minutes when Erith & Belvedere won 4-0 there on 25 April, said: “Everyone at the club is looking forward to this massive game this weekend and both clubs will feel they have a very good chance of progressing.

“We know the quality we have can pose a threat to any team. We just have to make sure we deliver on the day.”

Constable, who won the Kent League double with the Deres last season, added: “It should be a very entertaining game.”
