We have underachieved considering the squad we have, admits Chatham Town boss Kevin Watson

CHATHAM TOWN boss Kevin Watson says his side have under achieved in the league this season.

The Medway club are in the bottom seven in the Ryman League Division One North table with 23 points from 22 games.

Chatham Town welcome bottom-of-the-table Ware to Maidstone Road tomorrow, before travelling over to Essex on Boxing Day, Thursday 26 December (1pm) to play midtable Tilbury.

Chatham then play two home games, against fourteenth-placed Aveley on 28 December, before a Kent derby against relegation threatened Erith & Belvedere follows on New Years Day.

Watson guided the club to The FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round when they went out of the competition to St Albans City, who came away from Maidstone Road with a 2-0 win in October.

“We have under achived in the league so far considering the squad we have,” admitted Watson.

“As expected, the Christmas and New Year period will be a test of the resilience that we are yet to demonstrate over a consistent period in the league.

“The Ryman North once again has proven a physical league. From results we appear suited to the South.

“We have aspirations of improving on last season.  Some will believe that our Cup exploits have already made this season a success but we must not rest of any laurels in moving forward as a club.”
