We go to Hassocks full of confidence after Holmesdale hiding, says Corinthian boss James Collins

CORINTHIAN manager James Collins says he wants his side to bounce back from last week’s hiding.

Corinthian suffered a 6-1 defeat away to Holmesdale last weekend and will look to bounce back when they travel to Hassocks in The FA Vase First Round tomorrow.

Collins said: “We went to Holmesdale last week full of confidence after six wins on the bounce but unfortunately was on the end of a 6-1 hiding!

“We actually started the game well but some great saves from Alex Hyde the game might have been different but credit to Holmesdale they punished us and came away with a fantastic result.”

Corinthian sit in ninth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table, having collected six wins and five defeats so far this season.

They travel to play Hassocks, a side that sit in the bottom four in the top-flight of the Sussex County League, having collected two wins, four draws and seven defeats in their league.

Collins has revealed he has done his homework ahead of tomorrow’s FA Vase First Round trip to The Beacon.

He said: “We go into tomorrow’s game against Hassocks full of confidence.  We have won eight of our last ten and probably played better than we had in previous weeks.

“I went to watch Hassocks on Tuesday night, the pitch and surroundings are first class.

“It won’t be easy down there but if we reach the levels that we have done over the past two months, it’s a game we feel confident of winning.

“The players have been first class so far and we are probably in front of where I expected us to be, so we’ll be looking to bounce back on Saturday and put the Holmesdale game down as a freak result.”
