We can handle the pressure during games, says Burman
DARTFORD boss Tony Burman was delighted that his side had inflicted Billericay Town’s first home defeat of the season on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.
An inspiring performance from goalkeeper Andrew Young and a Lee Noble free-kick ensured the Darts came away from the New Lodge with a 1-0 win.
It was the Kent club’s third successive league win and lifts them up to thirteenth place in the Ryman Premier League table after eleven games.
“I felt the performance from the players was excellent against a good side who have not lost at home this season,” Burman told www.dartfordfootballclub.co.uk/forum.
"When you play away from home you will always come under some pressure during the game. How you handle that pressure is a key factor in getting something from the game.
“Our defending and organisation was very good throughout the match against some good play and good players.
“Another pleasing factor was when we did break down their attacks we were using the ball very well with some good counter attacking football, which was causing our opponents many problems.
“I think we have had our fair share of shots hitting the post, goalkeepers pulling off great saves, decisions going against us, playing very well and losing the game this season.
“On Saturday the players put in a good solid all-round performance, which in my opinion, deserved the three points.”
Dartford welcome troubled Kent side Margate to Princes Park on Saturday, 11th October, and Burman explained the latest situation regarding former Gate striker Rob Haworth, who was recently knocked off his bike en-rote to training.
He said: “Rob went to hospital on Saturday because of the graze around his ankle became infected and he will be at training tonight and we will view the situation regarding the injury then.”
