We are going to be in fine fettle for pre-season, says Crowborough joint-manager Sean Muggeridge

CROWBOROUGH ATHLETIC joint-manager Sean Muggeridge says his players are fit and raring to go for their inaugural Southern Counties East Football League campaign.

The club won an appeal against the switch to the League last summer, but are now looking forward to playing in the 20-team division – since it’s lost the Kent League tag - when it kicks off on 9 August.

Muggeridge said he was pleased with the fitness and attitude of his squad after reporting back for pre-season.

“We wanted to start with a get-together on Saturday, with full training starting on the following Tuesday, so we could discuss the season ahead and blow out some of the cobwebs with those players not on holiday,” he told the club’s website.

“The turn-out was good and the players look like they are up for the season as they returned in fine condition, both mentally and physicality.

“The blend of experience and youth within the squad looked promising and we had a coach, who has vast Kent League experience, join us for the season.  He is considering joining us for the new season so we can’t name him yet.

“We feel we are going to be in fine fettle for the pre-season friendlies. They’ll hopefully be a few more new faces on Tuesday and nearly all the squad will be back from holiday.

“We can start our tough training schedule and prepare for what is going to be an exciting and challenging season for everyone connected with the club.”

The Crows begin their pre-season campaign at home to Little Common on Saturday, 12 July.
