CANTERBURY CITY chairman Tim Clark says the newly promoted club are ready for their return to the Kent League after a ten-year absence.
The club will continue their groundsharing deal at Herne Bay’s Winch’s Field ground at Stanley Gardens and secured promotion after finishing runners up to Hollands & Blair in the Kent County League last season. They will be joined in the Kent League by Cray Valley (Paper Mills) who finished in third place.
“We are all working together at the club to be ready for our first Kent League game in ten years when we host Lordswood on the 13th August,” Mr Clark told www.canterburycityfc.org.
“Both players and management are fired up and looking forward to it.”Manager Paul Murray added: “The pre-season games are going very well and it’s great that players like Buster (Michael Smissen) and Sam Baker want to sign for City.
“We also have some excellent young talent as well and so with Chris Elliott and others also signing we have a good mixture of experience and youth.” Canterbury City welcome Kent Invicta League outfit Lydd Town to Winch’s Field, Herne Bay on Saturday (3pm), for their final warm-up game before the big kick-off against Jason Lillis’ side.Quotes courtesy of www.canterburycityfc.org
