Ward wants to remain in top five - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
Ramsgate manager Jim Ward is expecting a tough game against AFC Sudbury in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy tomorrow, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Suffolk side have already knocked out Chatham Town and Kingstonian in the earlier rounds, but Ward doesn’t want his side to fall next.
Ward, who dedicates his Ryman Premier League manager of the month award to his assistant Danny Ward, the rest of his managerial team and players, is relishing their trip to the Ryman League Division One North club.
“We’re going well, it’s a big day for us tomorrow,” Ward said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“Sudbury is a big club, but we go there in fine spirits and hopefully get something out of the game.
“I went to watch them last week against Kingstonian. They’re an experienced side and solid and they’re a good side.
“We’ll just go there and be positive, take the game to them if we can and try to get the win.”
Ramsgate, who defeated Kent rivals Folkestone Invicta by three goals to nil last weekend, are sitting pretty in second place in the Ryman Premier League table.
“Very pleased with that,” beamed Ward. “We’ve got a difficult November coming up with so many away games so what we’re looking to do is consolidate and try to stay in the top five and see where it takes us.
“If you offer me top five now, I'll snap your hand off and take it.”
Centre forward David Cory has joined their Kent League neighbours Deal Town on a month’s loan.
“David has gone to Deal for a month’s loan as he’s struggling to get a start with us,” explained Ward.
“He’s a very good player and I’ve got a lot of time for him, but he needs to play so he’s going down there for 3-4 weeks and we’ll see what happens.
“David is a good lad, a good player and still in my plans.”
Meanwhile, Will Graham misses the game at the Kingsmarsh Stadium as he serves a one-match ban.
