Ward aiming to keep Rams in play-off spots - EXCLUSIVE

Tuesday 11th December 2007

Ramsgate boss Jim Ward hopes tonight’s Ryman Premier League clash against AFC Hornchurch is completed - at the third time of asking, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Urchins’ visit to Southwood Stadium seven days ago ended prematurely, a power failure calling a halt to proceedings after just 31 minutes.

“I feel for them a bit as they’ve done all the travelling,” Ward said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk, today.

“We played 31 minutes so we know as much about them as they do us.

“We go into the game with certainly the same squad, Ollie and Warren were injured, we haven’t got any surprises up our sleeves.”

Ollie (back) and Warren (ankle), the Schulz brothers have ruled themselves out of the Southwood Stadium clash tonight.

“They’re the first two names on the team sheet every week,” said Ward, who added: “One man’s loss is another man’s gain, which is the ethos at Ramsgate Football Club.”

With eighteen games played, the Rams are currently in third place, a position looked upon by rival managers’.

“Everybody puts us as the benchmark,” said Ward. “I hope they’re still all ten points behind Ramsgate.

“We’ve got massive games after Hornchurch. AFC Wimbledon at home, Margate away, then Folkestone and Staines.

“It’s a great period, hopefully you keep everybody fit, to give us a great chance.”

Ward hopes missing the Ollie brothers won’t upset the ranks so much.

He said: “They’re a pretty team, get the ball down and play. They’re a big side as well, a tall side.”

And Ward spelled out his aims for the rest of the season.

“That’s the target if we can’t win it, get into the play-off’s, but it’s always been our aim to get into that,” said the Dundee born boss.
