Walker brushed aside as Lovell takes up "excellent opportunity" at Ashford Town

Wednesday 31st October 2007

Ashford Town have today issued a statement, saying that Clive Walker has stepped down as manager - and has been replaced by Steve Lovell, writes Stephen McCartney.

The shock news broke late last night that Welshman Lovell had announced his resignation from Sittingbourne, following their 3-1 win at Chatham Town.

And their Ryman League Division One South rivals have revealed the situation regarding former Chatham Town and Dover Athletic boss Walker, a highly-respected coach.

“Steve Lovell has taken up the excellent opportunity to join Ashford Town Football Club as first team manager,” said the club statement, issued on www.ashfordtownfc.co.uk.

“Clive Walker will stay on at the club in a coaching and scouting role.”
