I want us to keep playing the same way because I enjoy watching it, says VCD Athletic boss Keith McMahon

VCD ATHLETIC manager Keith McMahon says he will not change his side’s attractive passing game in order to get back to winning ways.

The Vickers were much the better side during their derby game against Phoenix Sports on Sunday but went down to a 3-2 defeat at Oakwood.

VCD Athletic sit in tenth-place in the Isthmian League Division One South table before the games on New Years Day with 23 points from their 17 league games and have extended their winless run to five games.

McMahon takes his side to struggling Ramsgate on Saturday, a side that are second-from-bottom in the table with 11 points from 18 games and six points clear of the relegation zone.

Ramsgate appointed former East Grinstead Town boss Matt Longhurst as their new manager last night.

“Listen, I want us to keep playing the way we play because I enjoy watching it,” said McMahon.

“I’ve got some great players and our football is played at pace and it’s brilliant so I’m not going to change the way we play.

“I’m getting on in my career, I want to enjoy the football that I want to play.

“We defend properly then we haven’t got a problem but we’ve got to start keeping clean-sheets.  If we keep clean-sheets we’ll win nearly every game because we score goals.”

McMahon blamed “individual errors” for their defeat against their next-door neighbours and is expecting a tough examination down on the Kent coast on Saturday.

“It’s always difficult going down there,” added McMahon.
