"Uncertain" Slade Green unveil their new manager at the weekend

Wednesday 27th June 2007

Kent League side Slade Green will officially unveil their new manager this coming weekend, writes Stephen McCartney.

The appointment comes following the departure of last season’s management team of Danny Evans, Adam Heaslewood and Andy Silik.

Evans has decided to participate in veterans football, a change in work commitments has forced Heaslewood to step down, whilst Silk has returned to the Ryman League to take up a coaching role with a South London club.

A statement issued by the Small Glen club today, said: “The committee would like to put on record their sincere thanks to all three of them for their efforts last season.

“We feel that it is only right that the identity of the new manager is revealed to the players from last season’s squad before it is made official, hence the delay in non naming him until the weekend.

“Due to the uncertainty as to if the club was going to continue for the forthcoming season, we have left it very late to arrange any pre-season friendlies.

“We are currently in the process of arranging some games, however, if there are any other clubs who would be interested in playing us in pre-season please contact us.”

Meanwhile, Slade Green’s first pre-season training session will take place at Bourne Road, Bexley next Wednesday, 4th July (7pm).
