Football is not always cup finals and promotion pushes so whilst times are tough we will show the strength as a club to improve in all areas, says Tunbridge Wells boss Jason Bourne

TUNBRIDGE WELLS manager Jason Bourne says he is searching for character going into tomorrow’s trip to Beckenham Town.

No one expected The Wells to be struggling in the bottom two at this stage of the Southern Counties East Football League season but they travel to Eden Park Avenue sitting 11 points clear of basement side Holmesdale.

Tunbridge Wells have lost their last five games and Bourne is under pressure to turn things around at Culverden Stadium.

“Looking forward to our visit to Eden Park Avenue for our fixture with Beckenham.  As a player I always enjoyed this fixture and I’m sure the players are the same,” said Bourne, going into their 24th league game of the season.

“We welcome back Lee Radford from suspension and will have Perry Spackman and Chris Seenan returning the following week to give a boost to the squad.”

Tunbridge Wells suffered their 14th league defeat of the season last weekend, crashing to a 4-1 home defeat to AFC Croydon Athletic.

“Training and preparation this week has been very good this week following a disappointing result the previous week at home to Croydon Athletic,” said Bourne.

“We’ve got to learn lessons whilst results are not what they should be and move on in a positive way.

“Football is not always cup finals and promotion pushes so whilst times are tough we will show the strength as a club to improve in all areas.”

Meanwhile, Beckenham Town’s Eden Park Avenue stages a South East Counties Under 18 representative league game between London FA and Kent FA on Sunday (1pm kick-off).
