We have another opportunity as a group of players to earn our keep, says Tunbridge Wells boss Jason Bourne

TUNBRIDGE WELLS boss Jason Bourne says he wants his players to earn their keep and progress through to the next round of The FA Cup tomorrow.

CB Hounslow United will be making their second trip to Culverden Stadium having held Rusthall to a goal-less draw there in the Preliminary Round on 6 August, before they won the replay 2-1 at their new ground at Green Lane.

“Our visitors are no strangers to the Culverden having played Rusthall in the last round and eventually seeing them off in a replay in their first game at their new ground,” said Bourne.

“There is a real belief in the group this season that as long as we take care of our business, game after game we will be hard to beat, so this week has been very much about getting our preparation correct for the tough task ahead.”

A Brad Potter goal saw of current Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division leaders Beckenham Town in the Extra Preliminary Round, which saw The Wells scoop £1,500 in prize money, while there is £1,925 waiting for the winners of tomorrow’s ties.

“As we all know The FA Cup filters down a lot of revenue to the grass roots and after negotiating Beckenham in the last round, we have another opportunity as a group of players to earn our keep and the reward is hopefully a big Bostik South or Premier team to test ourselves against for the team that progresses,” added Bourne.

“Amongst us we have Mark Stapley who was a big part of the Hastings Cup run a few years back that ended in Middlesbrough so we can draw on that and it makes you realise that anything can happen given the right application as a group.

“After a tough couple of seasons, we are not going to talk about what we are going to achieve come May and The FA Cup game is just a special game for us to enjoy and see where it takes us.”
