I feel when it all clicks we will put a run together and get out of the bottom half of the table, vows Tunbridge Wells assistant manager Mark Stapley

TUNBRIDGE WELLS assistant manager Mark Stapley says his side are looking to improve their dismal league position.

The Wells are second-from-bottom in the Southern Counties East Football League table, having collected six wins, three draws and 15 league defeats and are ten points clear of basement side Holmesdale.

It has been confirmed that one club WILL be relegated at the end of the season and pressure is on Stapley and Jason Bourne to turn around fortunes to avoid becoming the first relegated club in the rebranded Southern Counties East Football League.

Erith & Belvedere, another club underachieving in 12th place in the table, are the visitors to Culverden Stadium on a back of a 7-0 home win over Fisher last weekend.

“We go into tomorrow’s game after a much performance last Saturday away to Beckenham Town,” said Stapley, after losing 2-1 at Eden Park Avenue.

“I feel that we were slightly robbed as we were the better team for 90% of the game before the sending’s off.

“The way the team battled and fought was what we have been working towards.

“Everything is right at the club apart from results. Training is great, the dressing room atmosphere is buzzing.

“The supporters are by far the best crowd I’ve seen in non-league football. They have been amazing and we need to start rewarding them with wins.

“Erith & Belvedere have been scoring for fun lately so we need to make sure we convert the chances that we get.

“I feel when it all clicks we will put a run together and get out of the bottom half of the table.

“Jason and myself have bonded very well and work very well together. It’s in our hands to make this work and you won’t find two individuals who want it more than us two.”

Tunbridge Wells will have striker Joe Nwoku available and Chris Seenan returns from suspension, but Ollie Cook is out through tonsillitis and big central defender Perry Spackman picked up a minor injury in a friendly at Maidstone United on Monday night.
