We need the points to kick-start the league campaign, says Tunbridge Wells boss Jason Bourne

Friday 02nd September 2016

TUNBRIDGE WELLS boss Jason Bourne says he is keen to kick-start their league campaign at Beckenham Town tomorrow.

The Wells are sitting in the bottom three in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having drawn one and lost four of their opening five league games.

Jason Huntley’s side are in fifteenth-place, with a playing record of one win, one draw and two defeats in the league.

Bourne says that he loves playing on the lush playing surface at Eden Park Avenue and hopes it reaps the rewards tomorrow.

“It’s always a place I love to go. It’s a good ground with a playing surface as good as anything in non-league,” he said.

“As a player this is a fixture I would look forward to and my boys are no different.

“We welcome Richard Atkins after missing a few games and to be honest he’s been a big miss for us as a target man.  He runs the channel and is non-stop for 90 minutes, setting the tempo for the rest.  He’s one of the best in our league and probably the Ryman too.

“Alfie Hall is still a week or two away and the same for Perry Spackman.

“We have recently recruited Luke Hackett from Dorking Wanderers on a month’s loan to fill the void left with Perry being out.

“Although it’s really early days both of us need the points to kick start the league campaign.  We know what we are capable of and have no worried moving forward, but I must admit we’re keen to be able to name a settled side.”
