Tunde Aderonmu stays faithful to Cray Valley

CRAY VALLEY (PAPER MILLS) manager Steve Chapman has today received a boost in the striker department.

Former Sittingbourne striker, Tunde Aderonmu, 26, has committed his future with the Eltham-based Kent League club after turning down advances from two Ryman League Division One North and South clubs, Waltham Abbey and Chipstead respectively.

Chapman lost his coaching staff of Joe Ford, Martin Barnard and Darren Mace, who all opted to join co-managers Martin Ford and Chris Cosgrove at promoted Kent League double winners Erith & Belvedere.

Three players, Luke Tanner, Ben Healy and Jamie Miller, have all quit Badgers to sign for the Deres, who are preparing for their inaugural Ryman League Division One North campaign.

Chapman, meanwhile, has already brought in Jamie and Lewis Wood from Erith & Belvedere and Aderonmu’s decision to stay faithful will be welcomed.

“Just letting everyone know that I have rejected a few Ryman One offers to stay at Cray Valley with Steve Chapman and try to win the League,” said Aderonmu.

“I thought about jumping ship but I’m looking to double my eight league goals last season.

“I thought you could mention it so Chappo and my other team mates can see not everyone is leaving.”

When asked his aspirations next season, Aderonmu replied, “I’m looking to score more goals next season.

“We should win the league if Erith & Belvedere don’t steal any more of our players!”

The Millers’ begin their eight-match pre-season campaign with a trip to East Grinstead Town on Saturday 13 July.

The two sides met at Badgers on the opening day of pre-season last year with Chapman’s side winning 4-3.
