We've got to turn up and give it everything that we've got against Wallingford Town, says Tunbridge Wells boss Richard Styles

TUNBRIDGE WELLS manager Richard Styles says he is expecting a tough game against Wallingford Town in the last 64 of The FA Vase tomorrow.

The Oxfordshire outfit play one level lower than the 2013 finalists and arrive at Culverden Stadium unbeaten in 14 league games.  They are in fifth-place in the Combined Counties League Division One table with 32 points on the board and are 13 points adrift of league leaders London Lions but with three games in hand.

Wallingford Town have beaten Cranfield (3-2), Bishops Cleeve (4-3 on penalties after a 4-4 draw), Ascot United (6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 draw) and North Greenford United (1-0) to reach the Third Round.

Tunbridge Wells, meanwhile, are in eighth-place in the much stronger Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having collected 29 points from their 17 league outings.

The Wells have beaten Roffey (4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw), Hilltop (3-2), and produced a cup shock by beating Walton & Hersham 1-0 at Culverden Stadium in the last round.

“Tough game, every Vase game is a tough game, every Vase game is a cup final for clubs and they’ll be coming here with the same mentality,” said Styles.

“We’ve got to make sure we do our thing, we turn up and play and we give it everything that we’ve got, like we did against Walton & Hersham.  We were complete underdogs but we beat them.  We out battled them, we out worked them and we got a clean sheet but we’ll be focused and working towards our plan and what we’re trying to do with the FA Vase.”

Despite being favourites for the game, Styles knows that counts for nothing in a one-off cup tie, which will be settled by a penalty shoot-out if scores are level after 90 minutes.

“It goes out of the window. The plan goes completely out of the window with cups and The FA Vase.  It’s all about on the day and who does their thing on the day, who plays on the day really,” added Styles.
