Trams will run smoothy whilst chairman recovers

Thursday 06th November 2008

THE SON of Croydon chairman Dickson Gill has explained what happened before the club’s Bulmers Cider Kent League game at VCD Athletic on Tuesday night, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Oakwood match kicked off thirty minutes late due to the Croydon chief having to be taken to hospital by ambulance, and despite goals from Vickers’ Richard Sinden and Nick Hegley, the game had to be abandoned due to a floodlight failure with sixteen minutes left.

David Gill, posting a message on Croydon’s fans’ forum at www.croydon-fc.co.uk, explained the current situation concerning his father, Dickson, earlier today.

“He is currently recovering in hospital and undergoing a few more scans,” he said.

“My dad was simply walking behind the goal about fifteen minutes before kick-off and slipped over due to slippery conditions.

“He did not break his fall, which resulted in him hitting the back of his head, thus affecting the nerves in his body.

“This has got nothing to do with his previous illnesses.

“Regarding the team, my father was simply overseeing the football side of things and had no intention of being manager again.

“My family and members of the club will all work hard to make sure the club runs smoothly while my dad is recovering.”

www.kentishfootball.co.uk wishes Dickson a speedy recovery.
