Tonbridge Angels suspend their youth team fixtures until 10 January 2021
Tonbridge Angels have issued the following statement, concerning their youth structure.
“On 27th November 2020, and following the Government’s decision to position Kent in Tier Three, the Kent Youth League made the following offer to their clubs regarding the playing of fixtures from the end of lockdown.
“The League’s offer was that clubs could either play fixtures on 13 December, 20 December and 3 January or they could decide to play no competitive fixtures until 10 January 2021.
“Teams are able to train and there would be no penalty for clubs that decide to take the option of not playing until 10 January 2021.
“The respective Kent Youth League coaches at Tonbridge Angels have taken the decision that they will suspend their fixtures until 10 January.
“Our coaches feel that all of our players and parents, as well as our opponent’s players and parents, should be able to spend the end of a really tough year with their families over Christmas without that time being put at risk by travelling to and from various different areas of the county, with lots of households mixing at fixtures.
“Training will be at the discretion of the respective coaches, players and their parents but would be only done with limited numbers.
“Tonbridge Angels thank the respective coaches for their careful consideration of this situation and fully respect and approve of their decision. We wish everyone a very happy Christmas that is spent safely and look forward to getting back to the pitches in the New Year.”
