This is a big club that needs a big job done on it, says Fisher co-boss Martin Ford

FISHER co-manager Martin Ford says he wants to be in charge next season to improve matters on the pitch.

Whilst their landlords Dulwich Hamlet are celebrating a well-deserved Ryman League Division One South title success this weekend, Fisher are rooted in the bottom four in the Kent Hurlimann Football League.

The Fish suffered a 5-0 home defeat to VCD Athletic last Monday – Vickers leapfrogged over Erith & Belvedere to reach the summit yesterday after Tony Russell’s side beat Corinthian 3-0 at Oakwood, while Erith & Belvedere lost top spot following their goal-less draw at Lordswood.

But Fisher bounced back and leapfrogged over Greenwich Borough after their
4-1 win at Oakley Road yesterday.

Fisher complete their campaign with a trip to bitter-rivals Beckenham Town on 6 May.

“I haven’t sat down with the committee and the chairman yet to find out what the plans are for next season,” said Ford.

“I will do, I just need to get the season out of the way first.

“I’ve enjoyed coming back into football, I must admit that. I’ve got my old appetite back.

“This is a big club that needs a big job done on it. Whether the committee and the chairman think that’s for me I don’t know at this stage.  I’m keen to carry on. I know what I have to work with and I know I can get this club up to midtable at least next season, even with no budget, so it’s up to the committee to decide what they want to do.”

Ford wants to finish their campaign with Greenwich Borough, Holmesdale and Sevenoaks Town below them in the table.

“If we get the three points we’ll finish fourth from bottom, which we’d have won more games than we’ve lost since I’ve come here, so that’s the one thing we want to try to finish the season with.

“Let’s finish the season with a win and get all back here and get organised, if the club wants us to go again.”
