The boys need to be playing at their best to get a result against Bristol Rovers, says Jamie Day

WELLING UNITED manager Jamie Day wants his side to side to play at their best to claim a morale-boosting win over Bristol Rovers tomorrow.

The two sides lock horns in the league at Park View Road tomorrow – on FA Cup Second Round day – after playing each other in Bristol last weekend with the Wings going down to a 2-0 defeat.

The Wings are sitting precariously in the Vanarama Conference South table with 25 points from 23 games and Day’s men are five points clear of the relegation zone.

“I’m looking forward to tomorrow against a very good side who have a decent manager and will be difficult to beat,” said Day on the eve of the game.

“We need to play with a good tempo with all the boys playing at their best to get a result but we have a good record at home so hopefully we can achieve this and get us climbing away from the bottom four.”

Bristol Rovers are sitting in third-place in the table with 42 points from 24 games - seven points adrift of league leaders Barnet.

Meanwhile, Day has received notification from The Football Association following the club’s appeal over Jake Gallagher’s red card at Bristol Rovers last weekend.

The Wings can confirm that the red card will stand and are disappointed that the decision was not overturned and the midfielder will miss tomorrow’s game through suspension.
