Thamesmead boss Keith McMahon unveils Danny Penny capture

Friday 17th June 2011
THAMESMEAD TOWN boss Keith McMahon has today unveiled the signing of former VCD Athletic and Chatham Town central midfielder Danny Penny, writes Stephen McCartney.

Penny is McMahon’s third summer signing, having already snapped up Dean Standen and Richard Butler from their Ryman League Division One North rivals Maldon & Tiptree and Needham Market.

“I’m really pleased to have signed Danny,” McMahon told www.thamesmeadtownfc.co.uk.

“I have been chasing him for a few seasons now.  He is a big strong player with great ability.  He will be a big player for us next year.”

Meanwhile, there was also some good news concerning left wing-back, Ashley Probets, who was expected to miss most of next season with a cruciate knee injury.

McMahon added: “Ash has come back from the specialist this week and it may not be as bad as we first thought.

“He has to do a lot of strengthening work, but hopefully he will be able to play.  He is working closely with Dr Sarah and things are looking good.”
