Sutton Athletic unveil stalwart Ben Young as their new manager

SUTTON ATHLETIC have unveiled their new management team today as the club promote from within.

The club have unveiled Ben Young, 31, as their new first team manager and he will be assisted by Richard Esson, 28.

“Ben has been with the club for 12 years progressing with the team from Kent County Division Two to the current Kent Invicta League as a player, also been captain and club captain for many seasons,” said club secretary Guy Eldridge.

“He currently holds a UEFA B coaching badge and coaches Cambridge under 18’s Academy.

“Richard has also been with the club for seven years after joining from VCD, also captaining the first team up to last season and being assistant to the reserve team for the second half of last season with injury forcing him to stop playing.

“We welcome them both onto the management team and wish them a successful season.”

The Hextable based club finished in third-place in the Kent Invicta League last season and also won the Pain & Glory Sports Kent Invicta League Challenge Trophy and Hospitals Charity Cup in James Collins’ only season in charge.

Collins, 31, was unveiled as Corinthian’s new boss on 19 May to replace Matt Longhurst who took charge of their Southern Counties East Football League rivals Erith & Belvedere.
