Surrey FA: We have come to the difficult decision to cancel ALL County Cup competitions for the 2019/20 season with immediate effect

The Surrey Football Association have announced that all cup competitions have been cancelled this season.

The Surrey FA Board met on Monday to discuss the situation with regards to their County Cup competitions.

A statement on www.surreyfa.com said: “The Board assessed each individual competition and considered a wide range of factors. These included the number of fixtures yet to be played across the Competitions in addition to the 18 remaining finals.

“Also considered was the finals being played at a later date as well as the number of teams withdrawing due to Coronavirus concerns within their clubs.

“Most importantly, however, the Board considered our moral responsibility for the health and wellbeing of all of our stakeholders, staff, players, coaches, officials, volunteers, their families and their friends.

“In light of the above and The FA’s decision based on Government guidance to suspend all grassroots football, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel ALL County Cup competitions for the 2019/20 season with immediate effect.”
