Support will get us through, says Jenner

FOLKESTONE INVICTA consultant Mark Jenner is pleased with the attitude shown by everybody at the troubled club, writes Stephen McCartney.

Invicta have picked up three draws in five games since the news of the club’s financial troubles broke, but Saturday’s 1-1 draw at league leaders Kingstonian epitomised the character being shown on and off the pitch at Cheriton Road.

“I thought it was a brilliant turnout of the away support, just what the team needs at the moment and probably contributed to a well earned point,” Mr Jenner told the fans’ forum at www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk.

“I counted more than 60 Invicta supporters present, which is more than any other team travels in Ryman One South.

“We matched Kingstonian and could have won the game. Alright, we could have given it away a couple of times in the second half as well, but our new young lads need to gain experience at this level.

“They kept their concentration and worked harder than the home side over the ninety minutes and were rewarded for it.

“Lets get behind the team at home this week and give them the encouragement they need.”

Despite Folkestone’s winless streak, Neil Cugley’s side are presently fifth place in the Ryman League Division One South table - ten points adrift of Kingstonian - and welcome Merstham to Cheriton Road on Saturday before travelling to Chatham Town next Tuesday in the first round of the Kent Senior Cup.

Chats knocked Invicta out of the FA Carlsberg Trophy at the first stage earlier in the season.
